Not all people who start businesses have the luxury of sophisticated data systems to track and analyze the health of their businesses, yet the use of data is key to the long-term success of any business. This workshop will discuss why, where, and how to collect and analyze data to improve the health and survival of your business. You will also get tips on how to get the benefits of data analysis with relatively low cost and effort, even if you have limited computer resources.
Our speaker, John Heston, is our lead SCORE mentor in Erie and Huron Counties. Heston worked for the Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA), the federal agency that administers Defense Department contracts after they are awarded, primarily working with manufacturing contractors.. While working for DCMA, he served as a supervisor, a mid-level manager, and a member of DCMA Headquarters policy staff. He is experienced with strategic planning, budgeting, personnel management, and other management responsibilities. He also erved as a volunteer leader with the American Society for Quality (ASQ) and as a Malcolm Baldrige Quality Award Examiner for The Partnership for Excellence, a regional Baldrige organization covering Ohio, West Virginia, and Indiana.
