When building your HR function, it is important that you put the time, effort and investment in setting up your HR process  properly. This is setting a solid foundation for your HR function so it can grow with your business and not be the bottleneck to growth or efficiency.  

As your business evolves, your HR priorities will also evolve. In the building phase of an  HR function, you are setting the foundation for HR to support your business, not hinder progress. During the building phases, you are most concerned with HR compliance and HR administration and the policies, procedures and practices you set will be foundational to all employment matters.  

What resources are available to help me?

Building your HR function can be an overwhelming experience, but with the right focus and support, you will start to see how to arrange the pieces and parts of your HR function. There is no one size fits all HR solution. Just having an employee handbook is NOT enough. You WILL need to assess the unique HR matters relevant to your business. Its best to seek the advice of a qualified HR practitioner to help navigate these waters. 

With the proper foundation, most of your daily administrative tasks will run on autopilot and you can rest assured that your employees and your business have the HR support you need for success.
